Should I Continue Seeing My Family Dentist?
The answer to this question is a most emphatic yes.
You should continue to visit your family dentist at
least once every 6 months or as advised.
The First Appointment
At the first appointment the following will occur:
Your first visit to our practise will be a chance
for us to get acquainted and discuss your concerns
and point out to you any other orthodontic problem.
A full medical and dental history will be taken.
Certain medical conditions or medications can complicate
treatment; therefore it is very important that we
have an accurate medical history
We will look at your face, jaws and teeth, and explain
any problem that exist and outline all the different
treatment options.
If treatment is indicated , we will schedule a records
appointment and arrange for you to have special orthodontic
x-rays taken. A few weeks later a full explanation
of the proposed treatment will be provided and we
will send a report to yourself and your family dentist.
The records appointment includes photos of your
face and teeth, a soft tissue analysis and impressions
for study models of your teeth. These records are
necessary for an accurate diagnosis to define a treatment
plan for you.
At the case presentation appointment your particular
treatment is discussed, the cost of treatment and
estimated length of treatment.
For many patients we can do a One Appointment
Treatment Plan. This combines the first appointment,
taking records and discussion appointments. If you would
like to avail yourself of the One Appointment
Treatment Plan please let our staff know this.
